Dear Amherst Community,
First, I want to wish you all a very Happy Summer! Hopefully you are out enjoying the beautiful weather and getting some time for rest and relaxation. We are already back in full-swing here with ARPS Food Service. Our Summer Food Service Program began last week on June 25th. We added a lot more camps this year plus we extended the length of our meal service program to a full 8 weeks!
I’m also writing this blog entry to share about my upcoming transition. Some of you might know that I will be taking a step back from the role of Food Service Director this summer. My two grandmothers, who I am very close with, have both become ill over the past few months. Family is everything to me, and since they both live in the eastern part of the state, it’s been a challenge for me to be present and available for them while also balancing the responsibilities of the job. I made the difficult decision to transition out of my Food Service Director role with ARPS because I want to spend as much time with family as possible during this phase of life.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work here at ARPS over the past year, and I hope to keep in touch with many of you who I collaborated with on many (many!) projects this year. Personally, I couldn't have asked for a better learning experience and I am honored to have led the transition of our new ARPS Food Service program during Year 1 of our transformation. We accomplished So Much this year, which I am extremely proud of and honored to be part of this amazing team. Here's just some of our accomplishments from the past year:
We also added some great staff this year, including a new Food Service Director, Sasha Palmer! Stay tuned for an update soon for her, and I'm very confident that this program will continue to only get better in the years to come. Thank you again for welcoming me here to the ARPS community and I plan to stay engaged with our amazing schools for the many years to come.
With joy and gratitude
